Welcome to the official page for the Annual Flower Show — a vibrant community tradition that has brought people together for over eight decades. Whether you’re here to enter flowers, orchids, plants, baking, cooking or crafts, or simply to admire the displays, enjoy entertainment and connect with friends, this event has something for everyone.

The Flower Show is an event not to be missed.  Some love to enter flowers, orchids, plants or cooking to win prizes.  Others love to come to admire the beautiful entries while others come to meet with friends in a happy environment, be entertained, enjoy a snack or shop at the stalls.

During the years there have been many wonderful shows driven by themes such as ‘Bearly Beautiful’ with people sharing their bears; ‘Oh! You Beautiful Doll!’ with a display of dolls, large, small and tiny from many eras.  There have been spectacular floral are greetings such as ‘The Sinking of the Titanic’; ‘And the Bands played on!’ and the garden setting for ‘Garden Party’.  

There have been fashion parades, 150 Fabulous Frocks when the State of Queensland celebrated its 150th birthday, starting with indigenous fashions modelled by some lovely young aboriginal people.

For the 70th Flower Show, authentic fashions from the era 1942 to 2012 were modelled, interspersed with song and dance from each eara.  One patron siad ‘ I really needed to be at home, but it was all so interesting!’.  

There has been great entertainment provided by so many: choirs, bands, soloists and dancers.

The Flower Show is an example for everyone.  This is Church members and friends from other places, coming together on the day and doing what they do best.

 In 2026, we are proudly hosting the 83rd Annual Flower Show & Fete!

History & Milestones

The Flower Show began as a local exhibition in 1942 at the Eldorado Theatre on Main Street, Proserpine,  Qld and has grown into one of the region’s most loved annual community events now being held in the Cyclone Shelter at the Proserpine State Primary School on Ruge Street, Proserpine. Over the years, it has showcased gardening excellence, creative displays, entertainment, community spirit and fun for all ages.

Key Moments in Flower Show History

• 1942: First Flower Show held in the Eldorado Theatre.
• 1950s–1990s: Events expanded with garden displays, table settings, spectacular orchids and themed exhibits such as Fantasy Land and Our Life Our Land.
• 70th Flower Show: Features authentic fashion from 1942 to 2012, complete with song and dance.
• 80th Anniversary (2023): The “Butterfly Garden” theme celebrated with live entertainment, community stalls and family activities.
• 82nd Flower Show (2024): “Springtime in Proserpine”, with flowers, fruit, vegetables, local entertainment and stalls.
• 83rd Annual Flower Show (2026): Continuing this rich tradition with new themes, prizes, entertainment and community celebration.

Each year has been a testament to community spirit, creativity and local talent.
